What we count
We count currently active UK-eligible job vacancies advertised on careers pages we track for approved companies on this platform. Company headquarters can be anywhere; only UK-eligible roles contribute to rankings and totals. International roles are excluded.
Figures reflect advertised openings we list — not confirmed hires, not every startup in the UK, and not every vacancy that exists offline or on channels we do not crawl.
How the data is collected
We periodically check companies' official careers pages and update our listings when vacancies are added or removed. Native job posts on Find a Startup Job and connected careers-board roles are included when they meet the same UK-eligibility rules.
Active job counts on the hiring leaderboard are live. Weekly ranking and job-count changes compare the two latest completed Friday 00:00 Europe/London snapshots. The Jobs in Demand report breaks those same live UK vacancies down by job category.
Categories
The overall leaderboard counts each distinct eligible vacancy once. Category boards and the Jobs in Demand report use the same seven job categories. Uncategorised roles and categories outside that set are excluded from category totals rather than reassigned.
